now...Fire Rain Dance and Moonwalk Hike

For those like minded, and slightly lopsided individuals who enjoy the discovery of life just outside the boundaries of "normal" then this invitation is for you.

Meet at Joseph D. Grant County Park, Snell Campground campsite numbers 34, 35 and 36 at 6:30 PM tomorrow.

No BBQ now but the rest remains the same...(you are still welcome to bring a little fire roasting food or maybe even smores to share).  And, throw in a chair too.  Don't let a few rain drops keep you in the cave..the fire will be plenty big to vaporize them first..Bring your own beverage (and a tent if you think you need one).

Hiking begins at 6:30 from campsite #34, Snell Campground (there are two different campgrounds in the park).  Allow 30 minutes driving time from South San Jose.

May Moonwalk

May 27 (Thursday)

Sunset Hike, Campfire BBQ and Moonwalk

6:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Joseph D. Grant County Park

Join us for a moderate hike to the Scenic Overlook at 2457’ via Dutch Flat Trail.  This hike climbs about 800 feet and is about 1.5 miles in length one way.  Plan on a 1 hour hike to the scenic overlook.

Hiking shoes recommended but tennis shoes will be fine.  The hiking will be warm and the scenic overlook and evening cool.  Wear layers. Have a jacket so you can enjoy the sunset without getting cold.  Bring water!  And, a camera too.

The potluck BBQ follows.  Bring something to share.

AND, if you just want to join the BBQ and Moonwalk (not the hike) that is fine too.  Just remember to arrive before sunset (entrance gate locked after) but exits remain open.

The potluck will take place in the campground - contact randy@dirtyshirt.com for campsite numbers.  The hikers will return to the campsites about 9:00 PM.

Sunset is at 8:19 – plan to start hiking by 6:30 PM and bring something to sit on at the overlook.

(Note: after sunset vehicles are only allowed to exit, not enter the park.  So please arrive before sunset if you are only coming to the BBQ and Moonwalk.  There is a $6 per car entrance fee…carpool!)  Anyone wishing a free van ride meet at Starbucks at San Felipe and Yerba Buena at 5:00 PM (RSVP to reserve your seat).
