The Evergreen Outdoor Adventure Club is an outdoor activity social club coordinating hiking trips and other activities.  Typically, the participant is responsible for transportation and equipment and can expect an adventurous, challenging and personally rewarding experience.

Who is allowed to participate?

PLEASE READ THIS!!!   REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY EVENT SPONSORED BY THE EVERGREEN OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CLUB YOU MUST BE AN ENROLLED STUDENT AT EVERGREEN OR SAN JOSE CITY COLLEGE OR AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SAN JOSE EVERGREEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT.

This includes anyone enrolled in just one .5 unit course!  Please do not ask after reading this - unless you are a student or employee of the San Jose Evergreen Community College District you may not participate in club functions.  This includes children or any other family member of the student and your friends that are not enrolled students.   This also applies to friends/relatives of employees.  Unless, of course, the chancellor gives her ok.

How do I sign-up for an event?

All events require that you sign-up in advance.  Use the on-line sign-up form  or print the form and return it to the OA Club mailbox.

How much does it cost to participate?

Most club functions are free!!!  If there is any cost associated with an activity (such as park entrance fees, camping fees or other equipment rental fees) the participant will be responsible for this payment directly to the park agency or equipment vendor.  HINT: Park entrance fees are usually charged by the car and not per person making car loads the bargain.   For each event any anticipated fees will be listed on the announcement.  Please come prepared.  Borrowing money from others to pay for known expenses is not a good way to make friends.

What should I wear

Any activity that requires special clothing, gear, intelligence or a safety/preparation talk will be precluded with a mandatory meeting.  All other outings simply require common sense -  active outdoor clothes worn in layers, good shoes for hiking, sunscreen, bug repellent and smiles!  Really BIG smiles!

ZERO tolerance on drugs and alcohol use

Absolutely no drugs or alcohol is allowed during any club sponsored activity (even after hours).  And, this is not just a statement to satisfy the college administration.  If getting a natural high doing exciting outdoor stuff isn't enough for you, stay home.  Anyone drinking alcohol or doing illegal drugs will be sent home immediately and banned from all future club functions.  Please read this again and again, if necessary.
